Collisions Rise As Temps Dip

By Kevin O’Neil

(ESSEX ON) – The Essex Detachment of the OPP are warning drivers about the potential for slippery road conditions which can occur with very little warning.

Between 6:00 pm and 7:15 pm last night, a stretch of Highway 401, between the Puce Road and Manning Road, became extremely slippery and ice covered resulting in 10 motor vehicle collisions. There were no serious injuries.

Road crews were called out and the highway was salted.

With the onset of sub-freezing temperatures, roads can freeze and become dangerous with very little notice. The public is being reminded to slow down and to leave a safe distance between yourself and other vehicles.
