New Solicitor To Replace George Wilkie

(WINDSOR, ON) – The City of Windsor has announced that Shelby Askin Hager will be the new City Solicitor.

Since 2009, Ms Askin Hager has worked as Deputy City Solicitor and Manager of Purchasing and Risk Management. Her responsibilities included the corporate insurance portfolio and risk management activities, providing instruction on the management and settlement of claims, and working in an Acting City Solicitor role when called upon.

From 2005 to 2009, Ms Askin Hager was a member of the corporation’s legal counsel, and prior to that an associate lawyer from 2001 to 2005.

Among the many significant projects worked on over the past eight years were the creation of a new purchasing by-law, the procurement for the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Facility, and legal matters pertaining to the Casino Windsor Expansion.

Ms Askin Hager holds a law degree from the University of Windsor and will officially assume her new duties effective January 1, 2014.
