19 Firearms Stolen During Break-In

(NORTH VANCOUVER, BC) – On Wednesday, July 20, 2011, thieves broke into a residential Gun Smith in North Vancouver and made off with 19 firearms. The offence occurred in the 300 block East 21st Street between 10:00 A.M. and 2:30 P.M. All of the firearms were in a secure locker and were legally registered with the Canadian Gun Registry. The firearms are all of the rifle/long barrel type, ranging from 22 caliber to 7MM. No ammunition was stolen in the break & enter (as per legal requirements they were stored secure in a separate location of the residence). The investigation is ongoing with the results of the Forensic Identification Unit pending.

“The police are always extremely concerned when firearms are stolen and put into the hands of the criminal element,” stated Cpl. Richard De Jong of the North Vancouver RCMP. “The police have no suspects at this time and are requesting the assistance of the public to report any information that may lead to the recovery of the stolen firearms or arrests of the culprits.”

Anyone who wants to remain anonymous can call CRIME STOPPERS at 1(800) 222-8477 or leave a TIP online at www.bccrimestoppers.com. Crime Stoppers will pay a reward of up to $2000.00 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
