Fraud Warning

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) – Yesterday at about noon, a citizen who resides on Mercer Street in Chatham reported that she received a disturbing phone call from a man with a heavy East Indian accent trying to give her a security system that she allegedly had won through ADT.  The complainant found this suspicious and refused to accept it, at which time the man became irate and belligerent with her. When she hung up the phone, she contacted ADT directly who denied having any sort of promotion that resembled this. The telephone number was untraceable. Police wish to remind citizens to be careful of scams of this nature and to never provide personal information (credit cards, health cards, social insurance card numbers etc…) to people over the phone.
