Municipal Busses Vandalized

(WOOD BUFFALO, AB) – On July 29, 2012, RCMP were dispatched to a call of mischief that had occurred sometime during the previous night near the Syncrude Athletic Park in the Timberlea area of Fort McMurray. Police arrived on scene to find eight Municipal Transit Buses had been vandalized by unknown suspects. Preliminary reports indicated that the buses had nearly all of their windows smashed, fire extinguishers removed and deployed, oil and other fluids poured on the interior, and it was evident that fires had been started in two of the vehicles.

The damage to these vehicles is estimated at $60,000. RCMP are looking to the public for assistance in this on-going investigation, and are asking that anyone with information relating to this occurrence come forward.
