Santana Fights For Detroit

By John K Bennett

(DETROIT, MI) – The effort to silence one of Detroit’s more ardent and independent voices in Lansing is in full gear. State Rep Harvey Santana has been going to war for Detroit since arriving in Lansing two years ago clip_image001and his battle for the city he represents is ticking some people off. So now he is being stripped of his committee assignments in the Michigan House for what legislative leaders are calling “repeated inappropriate conduct” on the House floor.

Apparently this latest battle involves turning Detroit lighting department over to an authority which he voted against.

Santana said, “a backroom deal was made with the Judas’s of the Democratic bunch,” and Detroit’s voice was silenced. Santana is up for re-election this year so this could be a case of election year politics.
