Youth Artists Shown At Back Room Gallery
(WINDSOR, ON) – As Canadians, we are admired around the world as a free and idyllic place to grow and create. It is important that we carry the banner forward and teach our youth to speak through their artistic voices, show them they can do anything.
High school art students are blessed with a growth environment. This miracle is brought on by the tenacity of the art teacher. We wish to work with the secondary art departments to expand the scope of showcasing these remarkable students, getting them past their comfort zones and into the public forum.
I have had the pleasure of working in the company of many young and creative people. Their exuberance is intoxicating and contagious. Any idea put in their path becomes a challenge to be met. They are confident and know there is safety in a group of like-minded individuals. Our growing network of artists is grassroots at its best. The Back Room Gallery Artists’ Co-op was developed out of a need for non-tethered thinking and a safe creative environment.
The Back Room Gallery in Pillette Village will be hosting ‘Youth Artist of the Week’, a high school student wanting to build their portfolio and gain experience will show every week. If you know an artistic young person, have them contact us at the gallery and we’ll start them on an important journey. We will let their light shine and give the experience of an art opening, public viewing and mentoring from our staff of artists.
To participate, email Chris Ford with your name, grade, school and you will be sent an application form. Students will each be booked for a one-week period. Make sure all works of art are ready to hang and you are ready to be a star!
