Arrests Made In Barber Shop Shooting

(TORONTO, ON) – On Tuesday, January 24, at 12:46 p.m., police responded to a shooting call at 31 Tapscott Road, at the Cut Creator barber shop.

As a result of the investigation, a number of search warrants were executed in Ottawa, Toronto, and Orillia.

It is alleged that:

  • three firearms, ammunition, drugs and stolen property were seized
  • five people were charged; two additionally were charged with First Degree Murder

On Monday, February 20, 2012, two brothers, Christopher Perez, 22, and Kevin Perez, 27, both of Toronto, were charged with First Degree Murder.

They appeared in court at Old City Hall on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, 10 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing. It has been successful due in large part to the cooperation and assistance of members of the public who came forward from the outset.

The Toronto Police Service Homicide Squad would like to thank TPS 41 Division and 42 Division, The Gun and Gang Task Force, Ottawa Police Service, Ontario Provincial Police Orillia Detachment Central Region Crime Unit, and the OPP Central Tactics and Rescue Unit for their assistance with this investigation.
