Fire Department Burns Down

(ROGERSVILLE, NB) – An early morning fire has destroyed a building in Rogersville that housed the village fire department, village municipal offices and the local RCMP detachment.

Emergency officials received a call at 5:24 a.m. on January 9, 2012 that the building located on rue de l’École was on fire. Crews managed to remove a rescue truck and pump truck from the building before it was completely engulfed. The Miramichi Fire Department was called in to assist in fighting the fire but the fire quickly spread resulting in a total loss to the structure.

No one was injured in the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The RCMP is setting up a mobile command post in the village for the investigation and for RCMP members in the area to work out of in the meantime.
