Biker Dies On The Trans Canada

(VANCOUVER, BC) – The South Island Traffic Services continues to investigate the circumstances of a fatal collision which occurred south of South Shawnigan Lake Road on the Trans Canada Highway on the Malahat.

On October 29, 2011, a Chrysler PT Cruiser was traveling north on Trans Canada highway when it crossed the double solid center line and the south bound lane in front of a BMW vehicle.  The PT Cruiser struck the no-post barricade of the south bound lane, bounced off and struck a Harley Davidson Motorcycle and its lone rider that had been traveling southbound behind the BMW.  The rider of the motorcycle, Colin Francis GRANT, 54, of Langford, B.C. succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the collision.

The two occupants of the PT Cruiser were taken to Victoria General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Alcohol and illegal drugs do not appear to be a factor in this collision.
