Reward For Hunt Camp Fires

(SAULT STE MARIE, ON) – The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters (O.F.A.H.), with 100,000 members, supporters and subscribers, and 670 member clubs across Ontario, is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of individual(s) associated with suspicious fires that destroyed three hunt camps. The fires happened on or about December 28, 2010 on S&T Road, St. Joseph Island, south of Sault Ste. Marie, where all of the camps were situated.

Joining the O.F.A.H. in providing funding for a reward is the St. Joseph Hunters and Anglers, an O.F.A.H. member club ($500); hunt camp owner Bernard Yantz ($2,500); the Township of Hilton ($1,000); and insurance provider, Intact Insurance ($1,000), for a total reward of $6,000.

“The fact that three hunt camps on the same road burned to the ground at or around the same time is obviously suspicious and of great concern to the O.F.A.H.”, said Greg Farrant, O.F.A.H. Manager of Government Affairs & Policy. “We were saddened to hear of this loss and the apparent targeting of these camps. The O.F.A.H. is strongly supportive of local efforts to generate information leading to a quick resolution of this matter, so we have joined with others from the community in offering a reward.”
