Kiss Of Electoral Death For Sleiman
Is that what just happened with the mini-Gord column boosting his candidacy?
For whom are you going to vote in Ward 5 if you live there? That is Councillor Lewenza’s Ward where he now has several candidates running against him.
Don’t you wish that mini-Gord told us the name of the person that said Lewenza told him he was “WINDSOR STAR EXCERPT DELETED BY REQUEST OF POSTMEDIA NETWORK INC. LEGAL DEPT” with a snap of the fingers under that person’s nose. I wonder if that person is the “corrupt Councillor” that mini-Gord and the Star have refused to bring to justice.
I have known Ed Sleiman for a number of years. He has always been a serious candidate and now becomes Junior’s major opponent.
I personally know that it is true that he is a very kind, gentle and generous man. It is a shame therefore that he has to be used as a tool to try to oust one of the only dissenting voices on Council to the rule of Edgar (aka Eddie). How else to describe the mini-Gord column “WINDSOR STAR EXCERPT DELETED BY REQUEST OF POSTMEDIA NETWORK INC. LEGAL DEPT.”
In one fell swoop, mini-Gord has cost Sleiman the election!
All of the hardliner positions are being put into Ed’s mouth to make it appear that he is Edgar-ite: WUC rates, downsizing and outsourcing. And in case some voters are concerned that he is a “union guy”… he is a good one not one of these evil ones that want to destroy Windsor:

Whew, thank goodness for that explanation.
Is Ed being put forward as an E-Machine candidate considering his close relationship in the past to Edgar’s family? After all, the big assumption was that Edgar will be re-elected (that is until Limoges decided to run) but that he needs a majority of Council to ram his ideas through. In other words, the real fight in this election is to get pro-Edgar candidates elected.
I doubt if this is the case. I do accept what Ed told me some time ago that he and Edgar have had a parting of the ways. Yet voters should be concerned:

I hope that Ed does not get angry at me but the last thing that we need in Windsor at this time is a nice guy whose heart is in the right place when our next Mayor could still be the person whose “arrogance knows no bounds.”
To be blunt, we need someone who is prepared to stand up to Edgar when he comes forward with minds eye visions that could cost us millions such as the airport transportation hub fiasco where it appeared that he had no idea with whom he was working. Frankly, I am disappointed that Junior did not take a more aggressive position against this dumb deal but at least he has shown some balls in going after Edgar about the 101-day strike and the water rates.
It remains to be seen how Ed would have handled the latest Edgar mind’s eye vision. I wonder why mini-Gord did not ask Ed about his position on these Edgar visions or if he did, why he did not report on what Ed said.
Wait a minute. There is another candidate running in Ward 5 that people may want to consider: John Middleton. He at least has the nerve to sue the City for what he believes is a wrong committed against him.
With two other candidates, Liz Atkinson and Dean Lawrence in that Ward, it could be interesting on election night after all.
Something is just nagging at me at the back of my mind with all this. Don’t you just wonder why mini-Gord did not do a column on those other candidates when they were nominated.
